What is Spotlight?
Imagine if you could search through your entire iDevice from a single search box? That's Spotlight.
How do you access Spotlight?
First, you'll need to be on your main screen of apps. From there, you can do either of two simple things:
  1. Swipe the opposite way (from left to right)
  2. Click the Home button once
How does it work?
You'll see a text box at the top of the screen. Type anything in there that you want to search for. iOS automatically searches through your emails, texts, contacts, apps, notes, calendar events, reminders, music, videos, podcasts, and more - all at once. It will categorize results based on the type (mail, contact, etc). Simply tap on a result to open that item.
My favorite uses for Spotlight
  1. Quickly open an app that I forgot which folder it's in
  2. Search emails & texts
  3. Quickly find a song
I bet you didn't know...
Spotlight also searches recently deleted iMessages. If you tap on the item, it won't pull it up but you can use it to see small snippets of a deleted text.
